Homemade Bubble Bath – Wash Your Cares Away

Homemade bubble bath is a wonderful product, and very easy to make. It there anything as relaxing and decadent than reclining in a delightful, bubbly hot bath? There are very few things in life that are so enjoyable, refreshing and inexpensive as soaking your cares away in the bath. After a stressful day, a luxurious bath is just what you need.

Homemade bubble bath allows you to avoid the horrible, harsh chemical ingredients of commercial bubble bath products. Unfortunately, these same chemicals are added to children’s bath products as well. By making your own bath and skin care items, you can avoid exposing yourself and your children to these chemicals. At the same time, making skin and bath products allows you to customize your experience. By choosing your own custom essential oils and carrier oils such as coconut and olive oils, you can make custom scented and highly moisturizing products.

Homemade bubble bath saves money as well. You can make a great bubble bath using inexpensive liquid castile soap, or save even more money by grating a bar of the same soap to use in your recipes. Liquid glycerin, a by-product of soap manufacturing, is another inexpensive addition to bubble bath that helps moisturize and soften your skin. If you prefer your glycerin to be from vegetable sources only, that particular kind of glycerin is available. It is a bit more expensive than the glycerin typically found in grocery and drug stores, and is sometimes more difficult to find. If you have any difficulty finding any ingredients for spa products, you can generally find them online very easily.

Homemade bubble bath should be used quickly, as it doesn’t contain the preservatives of commercial products. It should be stored in an unbreakable bottle, out of reach of children, as they can get easily carried away with the amount of this soap that they add to their baths. You don’t want to end up with a bathroom that looks like the scene of a comedy movie from an excess of bubbles! Kids also do strange things like drink things that they are not supposed to, so always err on the side of caution.

Homemade bubble bath also makes a thoughtful gift. In fact, you can make up a nice, inexpensive spa gift basket with this product, some homemade bath salts and homemade bath bombs for just a few dollars. You can also make bath teas to include, which are lovely bunches of herbs and tea put into large tea bags or tied up in cheesecloth. It’s so much fun, and so easy to make spa products like these? Don’t you want to try?

How to Make Bath Time Fun For Children

If your child is like mine and does not enjoy his evening bath, Then I suggest that you give this a go. I was given this recipe by a mother who also had a child that did not enjoy their evening bath time. I must say that it has made bath time an exciting adventure my little boy. I now have no trouble getting him to have his evening bath.

Ingredients

3/4 of cup bicarbonate soda
2 tablespoons cornflour
1/2 cup cream of tartar
A glass jar with a lid
A measuring cup
A couple of drops essential oil

Method

Put the bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and cornflour into the glass jar. Stir well to make sure that there are no lumps. Add a couple of drops of essential oil and mix well again. I love to use lavender oil as it helps to promote a feeling of calm. This then helps your child to have a good nights sleep.

How to use

Prepare bath water to preferred temperature. Put your child in the bath then drop in a couple of spoonfuls of the bath salts. When the bath salts are mixed with water it will become fizzy. My boy loves the sensation on his skin. Make sure that your child is not left unattended while in the bath.

These bath salts and are inexpensive to make and also make great gifts. If you have trouble finding the essential oils then you could try a health food store. I would not recommend using cheap craft oils as they may irritate your little ones skin.

The Benefits of Bath Salt

With the many things that we add to our bath, like bubbles, perfumes or oils, you may wonder what the purpose of using bath salt instead. One of the reasons is that using them augments the salt in your bath water which is known to diminish the bacteria that is on your skin. This bath water additive allows the body to discard the excess dead skin quicker and helps to protect the body’s skin from illness. It can also help to soften the skin while making it healthier, smoother, and moister.

If you want to try these salts the first thing to do is to be certain to put them in as the water is running into the tub. If you pour them in after the bath is filled they will not dissolve properly and so there will be no benefits to having put the bath salt into the bath. This is because they take a little time to properly dissolve and if you put them in at the beginning they will have that time. Some people use them scented while others prefer no scent. The thing to remember is that the delicate scent that is added will not be detrimental to your skin so if you like the scents it is okay to use them.

If you have an interest in using these for your bath then you have two chooses. You can purchases at a variety of stores, including online, or you can make them yourself. There are many recipes available, again you can find these online, that will show you how by buying a few simple items you can not only make bath salt but you can make attractive bottles of it to give as gifts. Most of what you need you can get at the supermarket or drug store. These ingredients include Epsom salts, baking soda, food coloring, glycerin and essential oils. Find a good recipe to learn how to make this treat for your bath.
